Blood Knights step by step: Stage 1

So we come to blood knights. Now I have to say this in advance. I do not like painting red. It requires something I do not have. Namely the ability to stop before you end up with orange. SO! Knowing that this is my failure I am going to try and bloody well stop before Blood Knights end up as Oranges in a market stall! (This also involves making them darker than usual Red they are given)

Right well best get to it.

Stage 1.

Simple stage really. It requires 0 skill and 0 ability. Also requires a fairly sizable brush. In this case I have used the only Citadel brush I actually have (because they are crap) "Large brush"

What you need to do is cover all the metal and all the cloth areas of the model with Scab red. Now you may ask "why don't you use those foundation paints GW is so proud of". The main reason here is that I do not need a bright red model to be the result. I want it to be dark and I want Blood Red (paint colour) to be the final highlight rather than a major colour on the model.

Here are some examples of post Stage one blood Knights:

As such mistakes and errors are allowed on the first few stages as they will be covered up later. Also it doesn't matter TOO much if you miss out some little bits at this stage but this doesn't mean you need to be sloppy or lazy!
